Season recap, July 13 - 19, 2026: the biggest stories of the week, curated from the original reporting. Not a complete daily record.
The league released official reporting dates with 49ers rookies due July 18 and veterans July 25 at the SAP Performance Facility. The NFL also confirmed two joint practices: the Titans on August 11 in Santa Clara and the Chargers on August 18 in El Segundo. The first preseason game was set for August 13 at Levi's Stadium against Tennessee.
Brock Purdy entered camp as the undisputed starter, Mike Evans headlined a rebuilt receiving corps, and Raheem Morris began his first camp as defensive coordinator. The most significant competition was at left guard, where veteran Robert Jones, second-year Connor Colby, and rookie Carver Willis were expected to battle for the only offensive starting spot without a clear incumbent. Other competitions included edge rusher, cornerback, and safety, with rookies like De'Zhaun Stribling and Ephesians Prysock among the players to watch.
San Francisco signed punter Jack Bouwmeester to a three-year contract on July 18 as rookies reported to camp. The team also placed tight end Khalil Dinkins on the active non-football injury list. The move settled a specialist spot before the full squad arrived the following week.
